Ashford Park School - Procedures for Drop-off/Pickup 2009-2010
Morning Drop-Off
7:00-7:20 (breakfast eaters) – Students may enter the front door. Please park in a designated parking space to let them out of your car. You may accompany the student to the front door if you wish. There will be a staff member stationed at the front door.
7:20-7:45 – ALL STUDENTS must be dropped off at the carpool location at Cynthia Dr. and Tryon Rd. Students MAY NOT be dropped off at the front of the school during this time.
The carpool line is on Tryon Rd. To get in line, do one of the following:
• From Cravenridge, make a right turn on Pamela. At the stop sign, make a right turn on Tryon and enter the carpool line; or
• Enter Tryon from any street except Cravenridge (which is one-way during carpool times) and Cynthia, then come straight into the carpool line
Please do not turn left from Cynthia onto Tryon and attempt to break into the carpool line. This is unsafe for those using the crosswalk and it holds up the people who are following the procedures correctly.
A crossing guard is at the intersection and teachers are at the door to greet students. You may pull up to the curb as long as you don’t block the intersection or crosswalk, or you may park on Cynthia or Tryon within the parking zones and walk your child to the door. Please observe the No Parking areas. These are:
• On Cynthia: about two car lengths (25 feet) before Tryon
• On Tryon, right side: about two car lengths (25 feet) ahead of the sidewalk to the back door
• On Tryon, left side: about two car lengths (25 feet) from Cynthia
There should be no stopping for drop-off at the front door between 7:20 and 7:45, as there is no crosswalk directly in front of the building and no crossing guard to ensure safety.
After 7:45 – Students are tardy and must be accompanied into the building by an adult. Park in the front, enter the front door, and go to the office to request a Tardy Slip. The doors at Tryon and Cynthia are locked at 7:45.
Afternoon Pick-Up
ALL CAR RIDERS are dismissed at the rear doors at Tryon and Cynthia. Carpool line begins BEHIND the crosswalk on Tryon. Enter the carpool line as described above for morning procedures. If you must park, please observe the No Parking areas. These are:
• On Cynthia: about two car lengths (25 feet) before Tryon
• On Tryon, right side: about two car lengths (25 feet) ahead of the sidewalk to the back door
• On Tryon, left side: about two car lengths (25 feet) from Cynthia
You will be given a number tag to hang from your rear view mirror. Please display this tag every time you enter afternoon carpool. A teacher will motion for you to pull up and will put your child(ren) in the car. For safety, we suggest all children be placed into back seats. You must use proper child restraining devices per Georgia law.
During the first couple of weeks of school, you may see parent and teacher volunteers in safety vests helping direct traffic. Please be mindful of their safety and cooperate with their directions.
